What we’ve sorted recently
Head gasket rebuild — VW Up!
This VW Up! came in after a water pump belt let go, and the overheating that followed had blown the head gasket. We pulled the cylinder head, skimmed it flat and fitted a fresh gasket. With the engine stripped that far down it made sense to do it properly, so it had a full major service plus a new timing belt and water pump assembly while we were in there. That resets the clock on the whole job and means the owner isn't back in six months for the next thing. Running sweet again and back on the road.
Crank pulley replacement — Porsche Panamera 3.0 V6
On the ramp recently: a Porsche Panamera 3.0 V6 that had come in with a failing crank pulley. It's an easy part to overlook, but it keeps the engine balanced and drives the whole auxiliary belt system, so as it wears you get vibration and the risk of the belt letting go. We stripped back the front of the engine to get to it, fitted a fresh pulley and set the belt system back up properly before checking it ran clean. Whether it's a daily runabout or a high-performance saloon like this, the job got done to the same standard. Back on the road and running sweet.
Why DIY isn't always the answer — Peugeot 1.6 HDI
This Peugeot 1.6 HDI came in losing fuel fast — the result of a botched spill rail repair. Someone had cobbled it together with mismatched parts and hose clamps, which is the last thing you want on a diesel fuel system. We took the franken-rail off and fitted the correct OE-spec part in its place, then checked it through for leaks. No more fuel loss, no more smell, and a lot more peace of mind for the customer. Some jobs are worth handing to someone with the right parts and the right kit.
What a first-time customer told us after their service
Most people find their mechanic by luck and hope for the best — this customer said as much, having found us “randomly” when booking a service. Their review afterwards is the standard we hold every service to: “They were honest, professional, and straightforward throughout the whole process. They explained everything clearly, didn’t try to upsell unnecessary work, and the pricing was fair. The service was completed on time, and my car felt great afterwards… It’s refreshing to come across a mechanic that feels trustworthy and genuinely cares about doing a good job.” That’s the whole pitch, in someone else’s words.
Common Questions
How much does a car service cost?
A Basic service is £99, a Full service is £149, and a Major service is from £195 including spark plugs and additional filters. Prices are fixed — what we quote is what you pay.
What's the difference between a Basic and a Full service?
The Basic covers the essentials: oil and filter change, fluid top-ups and a safety check — right for newer or low-mileage cars between bigger services. The Full adds a comprehensive inspection of brakes, suspension, steering and all major systems, with a written health report.
Will servicing with you keep my manufacturer warranty valid?
Yes. We service to the manufacturer schedule using quality parts and oils that meet your engine specification, and you get a stamped or digital service record — that is what warranty compliance requires, not a franchised dealer visit.
Do I need to bring the car to you?
No — we service at your home or workplace where practical, and offer free collection and return when the job suits the workshop better. Either way you do not lose a day waiting around.
How do I know what you actually did?
You get a plain-English breakdown of the work, a digital service record, and photos of anything advisory we spotted. If something needs keeping an eye on, we tell you straight — and if it does not need doing, we say that too.
