Need an MOT, or want to dodge a nasty fail? Keith is a fully qualified MOT assessor with 40 years’ main-dealer experience. The test itself is done at a DVSA-approved centre: we arrange the slot, collect and return the car, explain any advisories in plain English, and can often fix minor faults the same day. Straight answers on cost
There is no call-out fee and no charge for looking at the car and quoting. Labour is £65 an hour, diagnostics start at £45, and the price you are quoted in writing is the price you pay. Three things change the final bill: the parts your car needs, whether the job can be done on the drive or needs the workshop, and how long a fault takes to trace.

Cheaper than a garage? For diagnostics, servicing, brakes and batteries, usually yes: there is no premises overhead, no recovery fee for a car that won't start, and you don't lose half a day. For ramp jobs the gap narrows, because the work goes into a workshop either way.
What about other mobile mechanics? Checkatrade's March 2026 guide puts the average mobile mechanic at around £45 an hour, but notes that most add a call-out fee of £45 to £85 on top. Airtasker's May 2026 data puts a typical UK mobile job at £90 to £120. We charge no call-out fee, so our £65 an hour is the whole labour cost. On a one-hour job that usually makes us cheaper; on a longer job it works out about the same, and you know the figure before we start.

Honest limits
Most of what we are asked for is finished where the car sits: diagnostics and fault-finding, batteries, brake pads and discs, servicing, belts, starters, alternators, sensors and most no-start problems. Some jobs genuinely need a ramp, a press or a gearbox jack. We tell you which category yours is in on the first call, before you commit to anything.
We collect the car, do the work at Unit 6, Turner Street, Dudley, and bring it back, the same day where we can.
The MOT itself. By law it has to be carried out at a DVSA-approved test centre by an approved tester, so nobody can MOT a car on your drive, whatever they tell you. We arrange the slot, take the car and bring it back with the result explained.
How our MOT service worksWeather and access matter too. Heavy rain, or a steep, tight driveway, can make a job unsafe to do outside. When that happens we say so and move it to the workshop rather than do it badly.
The usual worry with mobile mechanics is that a van with no fixed address is hard to find again if a part fails. That doesn't apply here. We work from a registered workshop, the guarantee is backed by ETW Holdings Ltd (company no. 15689156), and every part we supply and fit carries a 12-month warranty.

Elliot specialises in modern diagnostics and computer systems, while Keith excels at traditional mechanics and MOT preparation with 40 years main dealer experience. Both are equally qualified and committed to excellent service.
Elliot is City & Guilds Level 3 qualified with 15+ years experience specialising in modern diagnostics. Keith has 40+ years main dealer experience at Vauxhall and is a fully qualified MOT Assessor. Together they bring 55+ years combined experience covering both modern and traditional automotive repair.
We're typically with you within the hour across our 15-mile service area covering Stourbridge, Dudley, Halesowen, Brierley Hill, and Kingswinford. For emergencies, we prioritise getting to you as quickly as possible. Your call is answered any time of day, and it's Elliot or Keith who come back to you - no call centres.
Ben does, any time of day or night, even when Elliot is under a car. Ben is our phone assistant, a system we built ourselves rather than a call centre. He'll take your details, talk through what the car is doing, give you the diagnostic price if that's what you need, and can book you straight into the workshop diary. Everything you tell him goes to Elliot the moment the call ends, so when he calls you back he already knows the car and the problem. Elliot or Keith are the ones who quote the work and turn up to do it.
We charge no call-out fee and do not charge for looking at the car and providing a quote. Mobile repair labour starts from £65. A full diagnostic work-up starts from £45, including a multi-module scan, live data, component testing and a written report. You'll receive a quote before any repair work begins.
