What we’ve sorted recently

AdBlue in the oil filler — a costly Range Rover Evoque mistake

This Evoque came in on a recovery truck with catastrophic engine failure, and the cause was a simple one: AdBlue had been poured into the engine oil filler instead of the AdBlue tank. Once AdBlue gets into the oil it attacks the engine from the inside, and here it had destroyed the engine and left the owner facing a very expensive bill. We're not here to blame anyone — modern cars are genuinely complicated, and it's easy to make a costly mistake without the right training. So before you top up any fluid or follow advice off the internet: check the handbook, and if you're not 100% sure which cap is which, ask a qualified technician first. Not every cap under the bonnet is for the same fluid, and we're always happy to take a quick question before a small thing turns into a big one.

Diesel injector copper seal replacement — Mercedes

This Mercedes came in for diesel injector copper seal replacement — a job that's easy to overlook but matters a lot on these engines. The copper seals sit at the base of each injector and form a heat- and gas-tight seal in the combustion chamber. Over time they compress, corrode or burn out, and once they go you start to see combustion gases leaking past the injector, sooty black residue around the seats, rough running or misfires, and that distinctive diesel smell drifting up from the engine bay. It's the sort of thing that slips past a routine service, but left too long it can damage the injector itself or even the cylinder head — a far bigger bill. If your diesel has been running a bit rough, or any of that sounds familiar, bring it in and we'll take a look.
