So this car is a 2021 Vauxhall Crossland 1.2 litre manual.

Car was recovered in that there was no clutch pedal.

Found out the clutch had gone, replaced the clutch at the workshop.

Car was back to the customer the next working day.

What this job tells you about clutches

No pedal at all is not the same as a slipping clutch

A pedal that drops to the floor and stays there is the symptom we would normally expect to be hydraulic — a master cylinder, a slave cylinder, or fluid escaping between the two. It is why we check rather than assume. On this Crossland the check went the other way and the clutch itself had failed.

It has to be a workshop job

The clutch sits between the engine and the gearbox, so the gearbox has to come out to reach it. That needs a ramp and the drivetrain properly supported, which is why a clutch is one of the few things we will not do on a driveway.

A car that cannot be driven in can still turn round quickly

This one arrived on a recovery truck and went home the next working day. That is an outcome rather than a promise — a clutch is a full day of labour and the timescale depends on the vehicle and on parts — but a straight diagnosis is what makes it possible.

Think yours is going the same way?

The clutch replacement page covers what actually decides the price, how to tell a worn clutch from a hydraulic fault, and the full job step by step. Replacement starts from £350, quoted in writing before anything comes apart.
